Scrapping Retreat & Finals Finished
I know that it is the last day of April, and tomorrow I will be posting the April in review, but I still wanted to announce that I took my last final yesterday!! I actually had my Physics final and my Physics Lab final yesterday. They both went well, and I know I have a B for sure in that class...it might be a B+, but we'll see.
On the Physics final we had to answer 10 out of 12 questions; our choice of the 10 to answer. I had to laugh at the las question which was: No doubt you have really studied a concept that didn't appear on this test. Make up a question about this concept and answer it. I thought it was really nice of her to give us a freebie. I decided to make my question about equivalent resistance, and after class I found out that my friend did equivalent capacitance.
The other thing I wanted to mention was the Digital Scrapbooking Retreat this past weekend. Digital Scrapbook Memories hosted this event at the Marriott in Park City. A few months ago, April, the owner of DSM, contacted me about teaching at the retreat. Of course I said yes because the deal included not having to pay to go to the retreat. I wanted to go so bad, but couldn't afford it, so this was perfect.
I got a little stressed out trying to finish all my projects while working and going to school, but it was all worth it. I had so much fun! I arrived on Friday at 3:30 and checked into my hotel room. Talk about an amazing room! Here's a picture of half of the room; there are actually two beds in the room, and yes that's a down comforter.
I spent the next two hours painting recipe boxes for one of my classes. April helped me paint, and we had a wonderful conversation. It was really fun getting to know April better.
Cassie came up to be my roommate and she was able to go to the classes as well. She arrived just before the classes started...that's her knee in the bottom corner of the picture above.
After classes on Friday night, a group of us stayed up in the Lobby until 1:00am. Quick note: many of the people at the retreat are active members on the DSM message boards, so we know each other pretty well. I have met some of the girls before this weekend, but this was the first time meeting others. After the late party in the lobby, Cassie and I headed back to our room and ended up talking until 2:00am.
I had to teach the first class in the morning on Saturday, so I called for a 6:00am wake up call. The wake-up call was unnecessary, because I woke up at 5:00am...wide awake! What was up with that?
At 8:00am I had my first class; a bonus class on decorating recipe boxes. You can go to this link to get a template and instructions. My second and third class were both for matchbook albums. It was split into two classes, one for beginners, and one for more advanced digital scrappers. You can go to this link to get the template and instructions for this project. And, in case you were wondering what they looked like:

The retreat ended around 6:30 on Saturday, and I headed home...exhausted. It was such a fun weekend and I am so glad that I went. I wish I would have had more time to hang out with Cassie and to chit chat with my DSM friends, but I did enjoy every minute of the retreat!! Here's a picture of the whole group.

Hey somebody saw you at Scrapbook USA I think and was wondering if there is anywhere here that sells DSM product?
Well, they definitely didn't see me at Scrapbook USA; I had to work that weekend, so I wasn't able to help at DSM's booth that weekend. DSM was there though. I don't think anywhere there that sells DSM products, but they can order them online at www.digitalscrapbookmemories.com.
I had a lot of fun taking the classes and pushes me to get back into scrapping again.
Cassie, I'm really glad you were there, and I'm glad that you had fun. I hope you can get a new computer soon so you won't be so frustrated with how slow yours is.
Alyson really is a temptress about spending money, isn't she? I think I might really like doing this if I just knew where to start. (Hint, hint)
I'm so glad you had a good time. I think it's neat that you were asked to teach a class! Do you think you would be able to make a career out of this?? You'd be good at it!! Hmmm. Maybe for our next cousins weekend we could make recipe boxes. They are so cute and I'd love to have one. However, I don't do crafts on my own, so you and Cassie would have to help me and then we could talk while we made them. What do you think??? :)
oh, we had such a good time, and you were a great teacher!! I can't wait for next year to come!!
